Coaching

So you’re interested in the coaching options from Humor That Works
(or you got to this page on accident)?

Well, you’re a smart person (or a little bit lost). You understand the importance of investing in yourself and think that I might be able to help (or perhaps you’re learning that now). Either way, I’m glad you’re here.

Humor That Works Coaching is all about helping you become more efficiency and more effective at what you do. It’s a hyper-specific, laser-focused, custom-tailored way to help you build from who you are today to who you will be tomorrow.

Whether you’re interested in getting ahead in the workplace, becoming a better leader, starting a side business, pursuing a passion, or discovering what it is you truly want to do, I can help.

How do I know? Because I’ve done all those things myself, and I’ve helped others do the same thing.

Through 12 weekly sessions over the course of 3 months, I’ll not only help you explore, decide, and refine specific goals you want to achieve, I’ll help you create the roadmap to reaching them, and then give you the kick in the rear you need to actually achieve them.

Now, if you’re anything like I was a few years ago, you may not even be sure of what a coach does or how one helps. I know that I had no clue the value a coach could provide and just assumed a coach was for someone who didn’t know what was going on or was too lazy to figure it out on their own (yes, I thought this).

Then I started having regular meetings with a friend of mine who is a coach. And I discovered that, through my discussions with him, I was learning what I really wanted to work on and was creating actionable plans to get there, and he was holding me accountable for what I did.

After a few months he dropped the bomb on me: “Andrew, you know I’ve been ‘coaching’ you right? We’ve been talking about some of the same things I go through with my clients.”

And I realized he was right. So naturally I hired him for real (I didn’t want to take advantage of him), and started seeing the true value of having someone in my corner and on my side, helping me navigate the challenging world of entrepreneurship and corporate culture.

It’s been a few years now and I want to help others the same way my friend helped me.

The “Yes I’m That Sure I’ll Deliver What You Need” Guarantee

One of my principles is to never take someone else’s hard-earned money if I didn’t provide them any value. So, if at any point you determine that Humor That Works Coaching is no working out for you, you can stop. Yes, you can break the contract with no penalties what-so-ever. And further, if you’re certain that you didn’t receive any benefit from working with me at all, then I’ll give you your money back. All of it.

Why the Guarantee? Two reasons: 1) I’m so sure that I can help you (assuming we qualify each other in Week #0) that I have no worries about offering a money-back guarantee. In all of the programs I’ve ever led (speaking, training, or coaching), I’ve never once had someone ask for their money back. 2) I’m a risk-adverse person. And if you are too, this helps remove the risk.

One Big Disclaimer

We’ll talk about this in Week #0, but if you’re considering Humor That Works Coaching, then you should know that this isn’t a magic pill that instantly gives you everything you ever wanted or dreamed of. Success takes hard work and no coach in the world can change that. BUT what I can do is help save you time, energy, and effort by helping you create the right plan and strategy to achieve your goals.

Work is still involved, but you won’t be wasting it on the wrong things or by doing it the wrong way.

Question & Answer

Why would I hire a coach?

There are many reasons, but ultimately you hire a coach because you have great aspirations and need a little help achieving them.

Why would I hire YOU as a coach?

That’s a good question. Maybe you think I’m charming. Or you like my sense of humor. Or you want to talk to someone who has found success in the corporate world, had a side business, has experience as a entrepreneur, is a huge geek about productivity, and loves milkshakes.

What’s with the dollar amount?

I know that “marketing wisdom” would tell me that I should end my prices in 7 ($397 / month or $997 for the package) but I just can’t do it–I like even numbers. So it’s $400 per month or $1000 if you pay for all sessions at once (and yes, not sending monthly invoices for me is worth the $200 discount you receive for paying all at once).

No, what’s with the amount the coaching costs?

Oh, I thought you cared about the even numbers thing…

As mentioned above, I’m still on the newer side of coaching (I’ve had tens of clients, not hundreds). As a result, you get the “getting-in-on-the-ground-floor” discount. $100 per session is on the super low-end of executive coaching (the average is closer to $200-300 per hour). Since I don’t have the same client list as other coaches, my starting amount is lower. But that doesn’t mean you’ll get the short end of the stick. Au contraire, my friend. I have to make a name for myself, so that means I’m going to overdeliver for you and make sure you’re completely satisfied. Then hopefully you’ll tell you friends and co-workers about this great guy they just *have* to work with.

Do we have to do all 12 sessions?

Usually, yes. In rare cases we can do a full-day intensive where we cover it all in one 8-hour session. I don’t do this often because it doesn’t give you the chance to let everything sink in, or give you time to actually do any work, and 8 hours is a long time to spend with a stranger (what if you don’t like the shirt I’m wearing that day, you have to see it for 480 minutes!).

The 12-sessions gives us time to define what you want to accomplish, create a plan for it, and actually make progress towards it.

What happens when it’s all over?

Great question! I like you already. After the 12-sessions are over, we make sure you have a plan for the next year of what you will focus on. My goal is to make you self-sufficient in the work you do so you don’t need me… BUT if you want to have follow-up ad-hoc meetings or even book a new 12-week session, you can totally do that at a discounted rate.

Can you work with my boss/spouse/kids/annoying-guy-on-the-bus?

I know, you’re probably pretty well-adjusted, but if your (INSERT PERSON HERE) was just better, things would be so much easier. First, coaching fo you is still valuable because I’ll teach you how to handle the difficult people in your life. Second, you can absolutely send them my details and we’ll see if we can work something out. Just send them this page and say “Oh man, there are some great jokes at the end of this page that you should check out.”

Where are the jokes you promised?

That’s a very timely question as they are below. Just a quick note on the jokes: these are intentionally of the cheesy variety. I’ll be teaching you humor that actually works to make you more effective, not just silly jokes used to wrap up the end of a long page.

Coaching Jokes

  • The worst part of doing what I do is that I now have to sit in the back part of the airplane–coach. I should have become a homeroom teacher so I could sit in first class…
  • I’m good at telling people how to eat cereal. You might call me a Life coach.
  • I work with someone from a high end fashion brand, making me a Coach coach. I have someone helping me work with her, he’s my Coach coach coach.
  • If all you do is sit around telling people how to improve their work, are you a coach potato?
  • If you think about it, the comma in “Put me in, Coach” is very important.
