Frequently Given Answers

What are the Corporate Humor Awards?

The Corporate Humor Awards are a way to recognize the individuals and organizations who make work more enjoyable by using humor in the workplace. They are a celebration of work that is meaningful, effective, and fun.

Who hosts the Corporate Humor Awards?

There are a number of people behind the scenes but the Corporate Humor Awards are presented by Humor That Works, an organization dedicated to helping individuals and organizations become more effective, more productive, and more awesome using humor in the workplace. Everything is spearheaded by Andrew Tarvin, Humor Engineer and CEO of Humor That Works.

Who chooses the winners?

The winners will be chosen by a panel of corporate humorists that changes every year. Check out this year’s panel.

What do Award Winners Receive?

In addition to the pride and bragging rights that go along with being selected as a winner, each individual and organization will receive a digital certificate of their award. The Most Humorous Organization will also receive a free humor talk from Humor That Works and The Most Humorous Individual will have the option of being interviewed for Humor That Works and will receive a free copy of Humor That Works: 501 Ways to Use Humor at Work.

New prizes may also be added as the Awards grow. If your organization would like to contribute a gift, contact us at [email protected].

Why would I nominate someone for an award?

There are a number of great reasons to nominate someone (or yourself). One reason is to help recognize the awesome work that an individual or organization is doing to make the workplace more enjoyable. Another reason is that by showcasing great examples of humor in the workplace, other people can learn how to make their own work even better. A third reason is that you want to nominate yourself in hopes of winning an awesome digital certificate. A fourth reason is that everyone who submits a nomination will be entered into a raffle for free prizes. A fifth reason… well, we could go on and on, but there are other questions to answer.

How do I nominate someone?

To nominate an individual or organization (or multiple), submit a nomination form before the deadline of Friday April 18th at 8:59pm EDT.

What are the award categories?

The award categories have been announced here.

What is this “custom award” you speak of?

The “Custom Award” in each section is a way to celebrate the unique humor qualities of an individual or organization, and a way to have some fun. Basically you create the Humor Award Category AND pick the winner. The top Custom Awards in each section will be included with the other award announcements.

As an example, someone might nominate us for “Best Corporate Humor Award Award.” Or you might nominate Gary Cole for “Best Portrayal of a Terrible Boss in a Workplace Comedy Move.”

I want to be involved, how can I help?

The biggest thing you can do to help is to spread the word. Take to Facebook, Twitter, email, websites, billboards and town criers and let people know about the Corporate Humor Awards.

If you want to get more involved, contact us at [email protected].

I want to host my Humor Awards at my company, how do I do it?

Having internal Humor Awards at your company as part of your Rewards & Recognition program is a great way to improve morale and encourage people to have more fun at work. Check out DIY Humor Awards kit to see how to get started.

I have a question, comment, or concern. Who should I speak to?

That depends. If it’s medical in nature, you should probably talk to a doctor. If it’s about the Corporate Humor Awards, then send us an email at [email protected].

I’m starving, what should I eat?

If you’re close to a Wendy’s, we recommend chicken nuggets dipped in a Frosty.
